The working mama hustle ... know when to have fun!

Being a mama is hard work. Being a working mama is really hard work. No matter how you slice it, balaning life is tough sometimes. There are chores to be done, groceries to buy, dinner to cook and the list goes on and on. All of that and we haven't even put on the working mama hat.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm trying to drive myself crazy. Why do I do this to myself? (Feel free to insert eye roll now) You are probably thinking what is she talking about? Why does she work? Well, because there are bills to pay!! duh. - Yes. that is completely true but making money is not only reason that I work. I really, really want to continue my growth and hustle as a woman. Be a boss lady, you know!?! I didn't want my hustle to die off just because I became a mama. Anyone have the same drive?

No matter if you work or don't work, as long as you're 100% fulfilled that's all that matters. I have many days where I wonder how I keep it all going in the direction that I want it to go. Life is challenging when you're email box filling up and you can't keep enough strawberries in the house for your toddler who is obsessed with berries.

I'm often asked how I juggle it all so I'm going to share a few tips on what works for me. as a full-time work from home mama. This is nothing groundbreaking here, it's just what works for me. If anything maybe you can forget about your mountain of laundry that needs to be folded while you're reading this blog post. ha!!!

1. Make a list, cross it off as you go:
Like I said, not groundbreaking but it feels so good when you get to cross things off your list and you'd be surprised at how the tasks that don't get crossed off seem to stare at you until they do.

2.  Work Smarter not harder:
You must enforce your own work life balance: If you work from home like I do, it's so important to have times you unplug and spend time with you family or you start to feel like a slave to your electronics. It's a blessing and a curse to always be reachable but if you sit down and focus on your work during the day, I don't feel guilty when I'm playing with Ruby in her kitchen and my phone is on silent. I always check periodically but I do love when I don't feel the guilt and can unplug. So aka, focus and get your work done as efficiently as possible!

3. Don't sweat the small stuff:
This is so hard for me since I'm a control freak but I try not to freak out about the things I won't remember in a few weeks, the floor can be mopped tomorrow. The fort you want to build build and the emails can't aways wait. Do what you have to do to stay afloat and happy that day.

4. Find someone you trust to care for your child:
I'm so very lucky that Ruby has a sweet nanny and that they have a special bond, it really is a beautiful thing. It makes my life that much easier, whenever I want to go work at a coffee shop or now, wework I don't stress at all or feel bad about leaving! It makes life so much easier and peaceful so that I can focus on work!

5. Work hard, don't lose your hustle and have fun:
I say this because being away from the child you love isn't easy so love what you are doing + make sure you're happy doing that job, in turn you will be a more fulfiled, happy and inspirational mama. I like to think that if you are choosing to work after having a child and paying the high cost for childcare that it's most likely because you love what you do! That's the goal right!?! To be enjoy your work and time away from your family. If you don't love what you do, I'm sorry and you should find a new job asap..  I'm serious, life is too short. So call me and I'll help you find your passion... push forward and make your own magic!

I'm a busy mama, I wear many hats and at times feel like I'm never doing enough or that my mom hat is not on 50% of the time. It's hard to feel the balance but it's so imporant to remind yourself that you are doing wonderful! Always remember not to let anyone ever make you feel that you are not enough. What you are doing is valid, you are a magical unicorn and deserve to be applauded.

Like I said, nothing groundbreaking but just the quick and easy steps I attempt to follow regularly.
Oh, don't forget to have fun too. Try to do new fun things with your babe whenever you can. Take pictures and smile, capture all the memories and remember that you are working to show your little one that you can do it all, and that it's okay to strive for success and set goals. Go and get it mama, you're doing great things!
